Member Etiquette

The YMCA is a shared experience for everyone to enjoy. YMCA members, volunteers and staff are expected to
treat one another with respect.

We ask for your support in respecting the rights of all members to have an enjoyable experience. Please
be aware that your actions have an effect on others. Unsafe or disrespectful behavior will result in removal
of privileges.

Fitness/Cardio Centre Etiquette

Appropriate footwear must be worn at all times.
No open-toe or black-soled shoes.
No food or drinks.
Treat others with respect or you may be asked to leave.
Return all weights after use.
Do not put weights on benches.
Offer to share strength-training equipment in-between sets.
No offensive language.
Sign up for cardio equipment and respect time limits please.
Towels and spray bottles are located in various locations – please clean seats and handles after use.
We do supply a limited number of yoga mats for classes. You are advised to bring your own if possible.
It is advised to arrive early to guarantee your space in each class.

Youths must be 12 and older to access the Fitness or Wellness Center, or to participate in classes.

Supervision of Children

It has always been the YMCA’s policy that children under the age of 10 are not permitted alone at the YMCA unless they are participating in a program.
Due to recent changes in child protection policies, and for the safety of all children at the YMCA, we are reminding parents/guardians of this.Children 10 and under must be accompanied by someone who is an adult, unless participating in a YMCA program (Friday Night Fun, Community
Swims, Tim Hortons Free Swim, Toonie Swim)
All children MUST know an emergency contact and phone number.
Children 10 and under: Adult must be in the YMCA and be aware of the child’s location at all times.
Children under 8 must be supervised in the pool by an adult at a ratio of 1-2.

Under 13 years old: curfew is 7:00pm unless participating in a program or accompanied by an adult.
13 years or older: curfew is YMCA closing time.
