Class Descriptions

The YMCA offers fitness classes for ages 12 and up. Participants can pick from land-based to aqua-based classes, and from beginner to advanced…

Group classes give you a chance to meet people, improve your fitness level and have fun! Members are encouraged to work at their own pace. Ask your instructor for assistance or information at any time. YMCA fitness instructors are trained and certified. Fitness classes are welcome for anyone to try! Fitness Classes

LAND-BASED CLASSES

Bodytoning/Bodyshaping (all fitness levels):  Class consists of a full-body workout with free weights.

Boomerobics (all fitness levels): Burn off some energy on a Saturday morning with this aerobic exercise combined with fun choreography.

Cyclefit (all fitness levels): Cycle Fit allows exercisers to work out together, while choosing their own resistance! A variety of classes to choose; from beginner to high cardio.

Chair Yoga: A series of gentle poses that stretch the muscles while sitting comfortably in a chair. Great for seniors, beginners, and those with balance or rehabilitative issues. 

Gentle Flow Vinyasa Yoga (all fitness levels): De-stress and unwind with a slower approach to a vinyasa style yoga practice. This practice is a style of yoga that smoothly flows through a series of poses with the power of your breath. Namaste.

H.I.I.T. (all fitness levels): High Intensity Interval Training uses various forms of strength training and cardiovascular training to burn more calories in a shorter amount of time as well as burning more calories post workout!

QiGong:  An ancient Chinese health care system that integrates physical postures, breathing techniques and focused intention. Great for rehabilitation, as well as seniors, but not limited to this age group. All welcome.

Step Aerobics (all fitness levels): This upbeat rythmic workout uses a step to incorporate aerobic conditioning and stretching.

Yoga (all fitness levels):  Learn the power of breath inhaling and exhaling, flowing through a series of poses. A great class for beginners and experienced yogis.

Yin Yoga: (all fitness levels) A class of deep stretches for the whole body, with extensive focus on opening up the hips.

Yoga Stretch (all fitness levels): Yoga-inspired stretching designed to help improve flexibility.


AQUA CLASSES:

Aqua Fitness:  Work up a sweat in the pool! This class uses a variety equipment to improve your cardio level and build strength in the pool. Pool workouts are low intensity and a great alternative to your usual routine.

Aqua Power: Aerobic and strength  movements to tone your body! Feel the burn and have fun in a supportive environment.

Deep Water Fitness: Float through a tough workout by running in the water! Participants wear flotation belts and burn calories without the impact of terrain!
